How to convert WebP to PNG

  1. Drop your images

Drag WebP files or a folder onto the box, choose them with a click, or paste an image you copied from a web page with Ctrl+V. AVIF, GIF, BMP, HEIC and JPG are accepted too.

  2. Pick the output

PNG is the default. Choose JPG for smaller photos (transparent areas get the background color you pick) or keep WebP but resize. For animated WebP, choose First frame or All frames.

  3. Download

Save files one by one, as a ZIP or into a folder. The list shows each file's size before and after, and the eye button compares the two side by side.

Key features of WebP to PNG Converter

Keep the transparent background, and save every animation frame in a ZIP.

  • Transparency stays

PNG keeps the clear background of logos and cut-outs. JPG fills those pixels with a color you choose.

  • Every frame of an animation

Save the first frame of an animated WebP, or every frame as a numbered PNG inside a ZIP.

  • Compare before you save

Each row shows the size before and after, and you can flip between the two pictures.

WebP is great for websites because it's small. When you save an image from a site and want to edit it, print it, put it in a document or upload it somewhere that only takes PNG or JPG, converting is the quickest fix.

Keeping transparency

PNG and WebP both store an alpha channel, so logos, stickers and cut-out product shots keep their transparent background exactly. JPG has no transparency; if you pick JPG, transparent pixels are filled with the background color you choose (white by default), which avoids the black backgrounds some converters produce.

Animated WebP to PNG frames

Animated WebP files hold many frames. By default the converter saves the first frame and marks the row as Animated. Choose All frames (ZIP) to export every frame as a numbered PNG instead, which is handy for editing an animation or building a sprite sheet. This uses your browser's image decoder; browsers without it fall back to the first frame. The same works for animated GIFs.

Got a video rather than an animated image? Video To Frames does the same job for MP4, MOV and WebM.

Why is the PNG so much bigger?

Most WebP images on the web are lossy: they throw away detail you can't easily see. PNG is lossless and has to store every pixel exactly, so a photo can grow several times in size. That's expected and nothing is wrong. If size matters more than perfect fidelity, choose JPG at quality 85–90, or keep WebP and only resize.

Convert without uploading

The images are decoded and encoded by your browser on your device. That keeps private screenshots and client work private, and it's fast because there's no upload. PNG files from this converter are clean: no added metadata, watermark or tracking. For iPhone photos, use HEIC to JPG.

Frequently asked questions

Is the WebP to PNG converter free?

Yes. It's free with no sign-up, no watermark and no file limit.

Is my WebP data safe and private?

Absolutely. Your WebP images never leave your device. This WebP to PNG converter reads the files in your browser, decodes them there, and writes the images back to your device. We don't store, transmit, or have any access to your WebP images, file names, or other file information. Your privacy is 100% guaranteed.

Is transparency kept?

Yes, for PNG and WebP output. JPG can't be transparent, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose.

Can I convert animated WebP files?

Yes. Choose First frame for a single PNG, or All frames to get a ZIP with every frame as a separate PNG.

Can I convert many files at once?

Yes. Select several files or a whole folder; they convert in parallel and you can download them all as one ZIP.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser, so your images never leave your device.

Why is my PNG larger than the WebP?

WebP images are usually compressed in a lossy way, while PNG stores every pixel exactly. A larger PNG is normal; use JPG if you need a small file.

Which other formats can I convert?

Input can be WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, JPG, PNG or HEIC, and output can be PNG, JPG or WebP, with optional resizing.
